Helping Older Adults Age in Place
Ninety percent of people want to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. This is known as "aging in place." In-home care makes it possible for people to remain in this familiar and comfortable situation after they begin to need help.

Assisting family members with their various and evolving needs can exact a significant toll in time and frustration for a family caregiver. At first, a person may need just a little assistance to help with employment or other personal and family demands. That's where United Homecare Services can come in.

United Homecare Services partners with families to provide a smooth transition in sharing those important responsibilities. We enable family members to have a break with the knowledge that competent, qualified caregivers can step in and assist.

Ensuring Continuity of Care
After introductions and a short period of getting acquainted with professional assistance, most families feel an immediate sense of relief. The stress is lifted and the family caregiver's health and quality of life are restored. You can also rest assured that if needs grow or change, our services can be easily adjusted.

We keep caregiving simple. With everything from the scheduling to the billing, we keep the family informed and in control. We guide you through the needs assessment and process of deciding on terms of service. Our flat hourly rate makes it easy to figure how much you will pay. There are no special charges or hidden costs. Our initial information sessions or assessments for services are always free to you.

Our Nonprofit Difference
United Homecare Services was founded in 2001 as a nonprofit company with the mission "To enhance the dignity of life of Oregon seniors and their families who seek home assistance."

In carrying out our mission, we strive to contribute to the quality of life of those who seek assistance at home. We partner with families to provide respite from the stress of ongoing care concerns.

As a nonprofit, we are a different kind of caregiving agency. We have only two major concerns: providing the best possible care to those in need, and supporting our valuable team of experienced caregivers. We do not need to make a profit for the franchise, shareholders or owners.

Your Peace of Mind: Our Priority
Our nonprofit difference benefits you. With nonprofit status, we can provide the highest level of care by employing the most qualified staff and giving our clients the most reasonable rates. Our wide range of services coupled with flexible terms and affordable rates brings you peace of mind.

When considering which agency to choose for your caregiving needs, view our "Things to Consider" checklist. This handy chart summarizes the qualities that make United Homecare Services distinct.
Our Caregivers
True caregivers are very special people with a heart for what they do. Because our caregivers are the trusted hands and faces that you and your loved one will rely on, we consider only the best and most experienced caregivers for our team.

We take special consideration in choosing whom to send into your home. And when we introduce a caregiver to you and your family, we are confident that you will agree.

We are proud to have one of the highest rates of retention for caregivers in our industry, and there is a reason for this. We value our caregivers and strive to keep them actively engaged, trained and satisfied. This translates into continuity of service for you.

A Passion for Service
Our staff has a passion for helping people. By valuing our caregivers, we serve you better. Caregivers are at the heart of what we do, and we take great care to match them to your needs, so that you can enjoy a long-lasting, positive relationship and a trusted bond.

Thirty percent of United Homecare Services caregivers have been with our agency for five years or more. Some caregivers have been employed as long as 10 years. Nationally, the average caregiver leaves the job after only six months. Our long retention is evidence of the respect we give to our care staff and the continuity of service you can count on.

Superior Qualifications
The people we hire as our caregivers must have a minimum of six months of caregiving experience. They must pass a criminal background check and go through orientation, state-required training and competency testing before providing services.

We train our care staff in aspects of dementia, infection control, proper personal care techniques, dealing with adverse behaviors, medical terminology, fall prevention in the home and many other areas. Well-trained and respected caregivers are better equipped to use good judgment and give optimal care.
